नागपूर : नागपूर छिंदवाडा ब्रॉडगेज मार्गाचे काम भीमालगोंडी पर्यंतचे पूर्ण झाले आहे. दक्षिण पूर्व मध्य रेल्वेच्या नागपूर विभागातर्फे नागपूरवरून इतवारी-खापरखेडा, पाटणसावंगी, सावनेर, केळवद, लोधीखेडा, सौंसर, रामाकोना आणि भीमालगोंडी पर्यंत ‘ट्रायल रन’ शुक्रवारी २८ डिसेंबरला घेण्यात येणार आहे. ट्रायल रन झाल्यावर नागरी उड्ड्यण मंत्रालयाच्या रेल्वे सुरक्षा आयुक्तांकडून हिरवी झेंडी मिळताच हा मार्ग वाहतुकीसाठी खुला करण्यात येईल.
नागपूर-छिंदवाडा मार्गावर पूर्वी नॅरोगेज रेल्वेगाडी धावत होती. रेल्वे मंत्रालयाने २००७-०८ च्या अर्थसंकल्पात नागपूर-छिंदवाडा या नॅरोगेज ऐवजी ब्रॉडगेज लाईनची घोषणा केली. या प्रकल्पात १४९ किलोमीटर लांबीच्या ब्रॉडगेजचे काम सुरू आहे. यातील नागपूर ते भीमालगोंडी पर्यंतचे ९३ किलोमीटरचे काम पूर्ण झाले आहे. शुक्रवारी २८ डिसेंबरला दक्षिण पूर्व मध्य रेल्वेच्या नागपूर विभागातर्फे नागपूर-इतवारी-खापरखेडा-पाटणसावंगी-सावनेर-के ळवद-लोधीखेडा-सौंसर-रामाकोना-भीमालगोंडी पर्यंतच्या मार्गाचा ट्रायल रन घेण्यात येणार आहे. भीमालगोंडीपर्यंत लाईट इंजिन, मालगाड्या चालवून या मार्गाची चाचणी करण्यात
येणार आहे. चाचणी दरम्यान सर्व बाबींची पाहणी रेल्वेचे अधिकारी करणार आहेत. ट्रायल रन दरम्यान १०० किलोमीटर प्रतितास वेगाने मालगाडी, लाईट इंजिन चालविण्यात येणार आहे. त्यामुळे नागरिकांनी सुरक्षेच्या दृष्टिकोनातून रेल्वे रुळापासून दूर राहण्याचे आवाहन रेल्वे प्रशासनाने केले आहे. ट्रायल रनमध्ये काही त्रुटी न आढळल्यास नागरी उड्ड्यण मंत्रालयाचे रेल्वे सुरक्षा आयुक्तांनी पाहणी केल्यानंतर त्यांनी हिरवी झेंडी दिल्यावर हा मार्ग वाहतुकीसाठी खुला करण्यात येणार येईल.
फेब्रुवारीपर्यंत होणार मार्ग सुरु
‘नागपूर ते भीमालगोंडी ९३ किलोमीटरचा ब्रॉडगेज मार्गाचे काम पूर्ण झाले आहे. छिंदवाडा ते भंडारकुंड दरम्यान ३४ किलोमीटरचे काम पूर्ण झाले आहे. केवळ भीमालगोंडी ते भंडारकुंड या सेक्शनमधील १५ ते २० किलोमीटरचे काम प्रगतिपथावर आहे. कामाची प्रगती पाहता फेब्रुवारी महिन्यात नागपूर-छिंदवाडा ब्रॉडगेज मार्ग वाहतुकीसाठी खुला करण्याचा रेल्वे प्रशासनाचा मानस आहे.’

From March 2019, passengers travelling to Nagpur and Kolkata, will be able to save 40 minutes on their travel journey. With Pune railway division completing the land acquisition process, the biggest hurdle in the construction of a chord line (bypass) near the Daund railway station has been eliminated.
Earlier, construction for the proposed 1.1 kilometer bypass could
not be carried out as two of the 19 farmers had refused to part with their land near Daund, which is around 7 kilometers from Pune. With railways having completed the acquisition process, work in the matter has started and is expected to be completed in the next three months, according to Milind Deouskar, divisional railway manager (DRM), Pune.
“We have acquired the land necessary for the chord line which will now speed up the trains going towards Solapur and Manmad,” said Deouskar. “There are 26 passenger trains which would earlier go all the way to Daundh station, halt for 40 minutes for the engine reversal and then head towards Manmad. After the bypass is completed, these trains will save the 40 min waiting time and reach the said destination faster by March 2019, a curve of 60 degrees chord line will be ready. This line is of 1.1 kilometres,” said Deouskar
According to officials, the cost of land acquisition was approximately ₹12.5 crore for the project worth ₹ 30 crores. The two farmers who had opposed the land acquisition are brothers.
This proposal was placed before the central government for approval three years ago but had been stalled due to land acquisition problems. Once the construction is done,trains going to Nagpur or Kolkata will not pass through Daund station and will, instead take the bypass. This will save the travel time by almost 45 minutes.

While many metro stations in Delhi and other cities are inside tunnels, once completed, the Keylong station in Himachal Pradesh will
be the first on the railway network to be inside a tunnel.
Keylong is the administrative centre of Lahaul and Spiti district, 26 km north of Manali and 120 km from the Indo-Tibetan border.
"The Keylong station, in the project, will be inside the tunnel according to the first phase of the location survey. This will be the first such railway station in the country. As and when the final surveys are completed, there could be many such stations on the route," D R Gupta, chief engineer construction, Northern Railway, told PTI.
The station will be at a height of around 3,000 metres and will be inside a 27-km-long tunnel.
The line once completed will connect all important locations between Bilaspur and Leh like Sundernagar, Mandi, Manali, Keylong, Koksar, Darcha, Upshi and Karu and other towns of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. It is important because of its proximity to the Sino-India border and can facilitate in movement of goods and personnel to the frontier areas.
The project will include 74 tunnels, 124 major bridges and 396 minor bridges, according to the first phase of the survey.
Once finished, the line will halve the duration taken to cover the distance between Delhi and Leh, from 40 hours to 20 hours," said Vishwesh Chaube, general manager, Northern Railway.
The final location survey is expected to be completed in 30 months, after which a detailed project report will be finalised.

City MP and Union minister Nitin Gadkari’s plan to start high speed local trains between Nagpur and four nearby towns — Bhandara, Wardha, Katol and Ramtek — is set to be a reality soon. For planning and execution of the project, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be executed between Indian Railways, Maharashtra government and MahaMetro on July 16.
Gadkari, railway minister Piyush Goyal, minister of state (independent charge) for urban development Hardeep Singh Puri, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and other dignitaries will be present at the MoU signing ceremony organized at Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Suresh Bhat Hall.
managing director Brijesh Dixit told that the project would be first-of-its-kind in the nation. “High speed fully air-conditioned coaches will run under the project. All formalities like timings, number of trips, revenue sharing pattern, special stations etc will be decided after the MoU,” he said.

The Railways has dispatched its first state-of-the-art air-conditioned commuter train to Nagpur after Union minister Nitin Gadkari had mooted a proposal to bring them to his constituency, officials said. Rolled out on June 29 by the Integral Coach Factory, Chennai, the stainless steel-bodied mainline electrical multiple unit (MEMU) features 3-phase on-board electrics and modular toilets in every coach. As many as 139 people can sit in each coach, while the 'standing capacity' is 412. This MEMU train can carry upto 2,402 passengers. In April, the road transport & highways minister had said that the Regional Rapid Transit System with the modern MEMU would replace the existing passenger trains in Nagpur. In an inter-ministerial meeting, he had proposed introducing such trains on the broad gauge lines connecting Nagpur with the satellite towns of Kotal, Bhandara, Ramtek and Wardha -- all within a distance of 40-60 km.The train, with the maximum speed of...
110 km per hour, will run on Nagpur's suburban train system catering to the needs of medium distance inter-city passengers, officials said. With low maintenance requirements and a suspension monitoring system, the train will also ensure jerk-free journey for those on-board. "The traction system is energy efficient and provides improved acceleration and braking performance and therefore, are faster compared to the conventional locomotive hauled passenger train services," an official said. The train has stainless steel slip-free flooring for durable and safe travel, bench-type cushioned seats for comfortable journey, and wider vestibules between coaches for safe and easy inter-coach travel. It will also feature lightweight aluminium double leaf sliding doors for easy entry and exit of passengers, and bogies with air spring in secondary suspension for better ride comfort cushioned seats. It also has CCTV facility for enhanced passenger safety, GPS-based Passenger Information System and Passenger Address System for train-related information and FRP interior panels to give a pleasing aesthetic view, in all coaches.
