service and has taken up the matter with the railway authorities
concerned.
Speaking after the meeting convened by Kozhikode MP, MK Raghavan to
discuss railway related projects on Friday, he said that the railways has

On the long pending demand for introduction of MEMU service in the Kozhikode sector, he said that the service will commence
once the MEMU rakes are made available. He said that the division was also awaiting the nod from the railway board for the
proposal to start a train from Mangaluru to Rameshwaram
Shami said that the project to upgrade the station to world-class standards through PPP model has been forwarded to the
railway land development authority (RLDA). Raghavan added that the technical bid of the project has been completed and the
finance bid for the proposal will be carried out soon.
The railway authorities said that the escalator on the fourth platform in Kozhikode railway station will be installed by June. Also
the proposal to open a restaurant in the fourth platform has been agreed upon and the location for the outlet will the finalised
soon.
Palakkad railway division senior divisional commercial manager Jerin G Anand, senior divisional railway operational manager
