Railway Electrification has played an important role in the country by providing the most energy efficient, pollution free and speedy mode of transport to the nation. In South Eastern Railway, total 88% (percent) of the entire route kilometre has already been electrified which includes the main and trunk route. For the rest portion, South Eastern Railway has taken major initiatives to complete the electrification works in the branch line sections.
The ongoing electrification works of S E Railway are in rapid progress. The Bankura-Sonamukhi (41 KM), the part of Bankura-Masagram electrification project (118 KM) having a total estimated cost of 106.45 crores is in completion stage.

of Tatanagar-Badampahar section (89 KM) having an estimated cost of Rs. 105.42 crore is in rapid progress and expected to be completed within schedule time.
The electrification work of Rupsa-Bangriposi (89 KM) is going on full swing with an estimated cost of Rs.94.89 crores and is expected to be completed within stipulated period up to Baripada in first phase.
Completion of the above projects will help South Eastern Railway to operate seamless movement of train service without any change of traction and will lead to the reduction of journey time of the passenger carrying trains.

A regular offender, who came out of jail, a few days back forcibly entered the cabin of o­n-duty gateman of Level Crossing gate between Rupsa and Haldipada of Kharagpur Division under South Eastern Railway at 16.30 hrs yesterday (13.03.2020) and threatened the o­n-duty gateman Sri Ratindra Mustafi with sword. Anyway, RPF staff and Station Manager of Rupsa and Balasore were informed. By this time, crowd gathered. Sri K.S. Panda, Sri S. Patra, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and Sri C.K.Singh, Head Constable went there swiftly and rescued the shaken and traumatized gateman. At that time, the accused attacked Sri Patra, the ASI with sword then and there. Sri Patra tried to block the attack with his hands, resulted grievous injury in his hand. Out of courage and bravery of Sri S.Patra, ASI, life of the local people and the gateman of the Level crossing was saved.

GENERAL MANAGER INSPECTS KHARAGPUR-BANGRIPOSI-KHARAGPUR SECTION DURING ANNUAL INSPECTION
Kolkata, 10th January, 2020 :
Shri Sanjay Kumar Mohanty, General Manager, South Eastern Railway conducted a detailed inspection of Kharagpur-Bangriposi-Kharagpur Section of Kharagpur Division along with all Principal Officers from SER Headquarters and Divisional Railway Manager, Kharagpur from this morning (10-01-2020). During his day-long inspection, General Manager inspected stations, level crossing gates, bridges, various railway joints, panels, cabins, yards, track machines, gangs, crew lobbies, railway colonies, traction sub-stations of this section.

General Manager, at the rest of the inspection, met and interacted with the public representatives, passengers and local people at Baripada, Jaleswar and Kharagpur to assure them to provide better services in respect of passenger amenities at stations and in trains and safety and security of the rail users. Shri Mohanty during his inspection, thoroughly inspected major railway bridge on River Subarnarekha and other minor bridges over the section. GM’s inspection also included window trailing and railway stations viz. Bangriposi, Bhanjpur, Baripada, Betnoti, Rupsa, Basta, Amarda Road, Jaleswar, Khargpur etc. along with railway colonies at various stations. Shri Mohanty also inspected Heritage Locomotive at Baripada Station.
General Manager inaugurated TTE Rest Room while inspecting Kharagpur Station. During day long inspection , Shri Mohanty urged all officers and staff to be more careful o­n safety of train operations. A speed trial at 120 kmph was conducted between Jaleswar and Hijli to assess the condition of the railway track.
