the country’s first two airport-like world-class railway stations- Habibganj and Gandhinagar stations.
The redeveloped Habibganj station will boast a glass dome-like structure at the entrance. There will be a dedicated concourse area with airport-like retail outlets along with food cafeterias. Once the renovation work is over, the Habibganj station in Bhopal will have a plush waiting lounge and modern toilets. Besides, there will be refurbished, world-class interiors with a museum, gaming zones in the station. The station will have a ‘green building’ and will support LED lighting that is energy-efficient as well as a wastewater treatment plant for reuse. For the Habibganj station redevelopment, which is being revamped on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg station, the IRSDC is implementing the project on the PPP model along with the Bansal Group.
Rajesh Mandloi, AGM (Civil), IRSDC, told Financial Express Online that at present, the development work at Habibganj station is at an advanced stage. Certain services under phase 1 are likely to be opened by January 2021, while the rest of the facilities and amenities will be thrown open to the public by March 2021. Under phase 1, basic facilities to tackle passenger traffic, entry/exit, lifts, one set of escalators, will be open. While other features such as CCTVs, Passenger address system, AC, etc., will be ready by the month of March.
The Gandhinagar station, once redeveloped, will have a revamped building and retail shops as well as food courts at the concourse area. There will be a transit hall which will have a seating capacity for a total of 600 passengers. The project is being executed by Gandhinagar Railway and Urban Development Corporation, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) formed by IRSDC and the Gujarat government. In a first, the world-class Gandhinagar station will boast a 5-star hotel above the tracks. The Leela Group is said to run the hotel.
Meanwhile, the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) is being redeveloped by the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), which is an Indian Railways’ flagship station redevelopment project that is expected to incur about Rs 6,500 crore capital expenditure. The project is expected to give a boost to the real estate development of the surrounding regions, generate employment opportunities and augment the tourism potential. The objective of the NDLS redevelopment project is to position the railway station as a multi-modal hub by upgrading infrastructure as well as provisioning facilities such as an elevated concourse, green building provision, refurbished platforms with easy access from the concourse level, an elevated road network with multiple entry/exit points, a multi-level car parking facility, mezzanine level exclusively for facilities such as lounges, food courts, restrooms, etc.
Apart from these stations, several other railway stations are to be redeveloped in the coming months including Surat, Bijwasan, Chandigarh, Anand Vihar, Amritsar, Gwalior, Kanpur, Sabarmati stations, etc.

ग्वालियर,न.सं.। शिवपुरी से ग्वालियर के बीच रेलवे लाइन का विद्युतीकरण का निर्धारित समय सीमा में भले ही खत्म नहीं हो पाया था। लेकिन वर्तमान में इस रेल मार्ग पर द्युतीकरण का काम पूरा कर लिया है। शायद यही कारण है कि बीते रोज पश्चिमी क्षेत्र के रेल सेफ्टी सतर्कता आयुक्त अरविन्द कुमार जैन ने शिवपुरी से ग्वालियर के बीच हुए विद्युतीकरण का निरीक्षण आठ कोच की विशेष स्पेशल ट्रेन से किया। इस दौरान उन्होंने रेलवे लाइन का निरीक्षण करने के बाद जो खामियां सामने आई हैं उनको दुरुस्त करने के निर्देश् संबंधित अधिकारियों को दिए है। बताया जा रहा है कि श्री जैन अब रेलवे बोर्ड को अपनी रिपोर्ट देंगे। यहां बता दे कि गुना-ग्वालियर रेल लाइन पर विद्युतीकरण का काम गुना से प्रारंभ हुआ। पहले चरण में गुना से बदरवास, फिर बदरवास से शिवपुरी तक मई 2019 में काम पूरा हो गया। इलेक्ट्रिक इंजन से लाइन की जांच भी...

पश्चिम मध्य रेलवे के तत्कालीन महाप्रबंधक अजय विजयवर्गीय 27 अप्रैल 2019 को डीआरएम उदय बोरवणकर के साथ गुना-शिवपुरी रेल मार्ग का निरीक्षण किया था। तब यह बतया गया था कि शिवपुरी से ग्वालियर तक विद्युतीकरण का काम दिसंबर 2019 तक खत्म हो जाएगा। लेकिन यह काम समय समीमा में खत्म नहीं हो पाया।
मेल एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों की 130 किमी की दूरी कम होगी
ग्वालियर से गुना तक विद्युतीकरण का काम लगभग पूरा हो चुका है। इस पर मार्ग पर इलेक्ट्रिक इंजन से जब ट्रेनों का संचालन होगा, तो यात्रियों को काफी सुविधा होगी। ग्वालियर, झांसी और बीना से गुना होते हुए मेल एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनें गुजरती हैं। लंबी दूरी की इन ट्रेनों की दूरी कम करने रेलवे विभाग पहले से योजना बना रहा है। ग्वालियर से होकर मेल एक्सप्रेस गाडिय़ां निकालने पर 130 किमी दूरी का सीधा अंतर आएगा। यानी ग्वालियर के लोगों को फायदा होगा। इंदौर जाना हो या फिर मुंबई या फिर गुजरात, गाडिय़ां सीधे उपलब्ध होंगी। इससे लोगों को सुविधा होगी।
रेलवे और यात्रियों को होंगे फायदे
1. डीजल की बचत- डीजल इंजन बंद होने से डीजल की खपत बंद हो जाएगी। इलेक्ट्रिक इंजन की तुलना में डीजल की ज्यादा खपत होती है। रेलवे को लाइट सस्ती और डीजल मंहगा पड़ता है।
2. समय की बचत- ग्वालियर और गुना में डीजल लोको पर इलेक्ट्रिक की जगह डीजल इंजन बदलने पड़ते थे, जिसमें 40 से 45 मिनट का वक्त लगता था। एक ही इंजन लगेगा और रनिंग में सीधे तौर पर डेढ़ घंटे का अंतर आएगा।
3. गति 10 प्रतिशत बढ़ेगी- डीजल इंजन की तुलना में इलेक्ट्रिक इंजन की गति ज्यादा है। विभागीय सूत्रों के अनुसार अब स्पीड 10 प्रतिशत बढ़ जाएगी। मंजिल तक पहुंचने में यात्रियों पहले से कम समय लगेगा और सफर छोटा हो जाएगा।
ये गाडिय़ा गुजर सकती है
साबरमती, देहरादून, जम्मू तवी ट्रेन, मालवा एक्सप्रेस सहित अन्य ट्रेने ग्वालियर-शिवपुरी से होकर निकाली जा सकती हैं। अभी यह ट्रेन बीना, गुना होकर जाती हैं। दूरी कम करने के लिए रेलवे पहले से योजना बना रहा था। वहीं माल गाडिय़ां भी बढ़ेंगी और व्यापारियों को सामान मंगाना और भेजना आसान होगा।

देशातील चार स्थानके खासगी कंपन्यांच्या हातात जाणार आहेत. यात एका महाराष्ट्रातील स्थानकाचा समावेश असून यासाठी २९ कंपन्यांनी बोली लावली आहे. महाराष्ट्रातील नागपूर रेल्वे स्थानकासाठी ६ कंपन्यांनी बोली लावली आहे.
विमानतळाप्रमाणे रेल्वे स्थानकांचा चेहरामोहरा (Redevelopment of Stations)बदलण्यासाठी सरकार कंबर कसली आहे. यासाठीच देशातील चार रेल्वे स्थानकांचे खासगीकरण केले जाणार आहे. करोना संकटात देखील या खासगीकरणाचे काम थांबले नाही. रेल्वे मंत्रालयाकडून गेल्या डिसेंबर महिन्यात देशातील चार रेल्वे स्थानकांच्या विकासासाठी बोली लावण्यात आली होती. यात महाराष्ट्रातील एका स्थानाकाचा समावेश आहे.

Other shortlisted include Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings LtD, ISQ Asia Infrastructure Investments, Monte Carlo Ltd, JKB Infrastructure, Kalyan Toll Infrastructure Ltd, Cube Construction Engineering, an official statement said on Thursday.
The indicative cost for redevelopment of the four stations is around ₹1,300 crore. These redeveloped stations will be called as ‘Railopolis’, and the government aims to attract huge investment from this.
Indian railways’ ambitious station redevelopment plan is one of its attempts to attract private investment in the sector. Apart from transforming stations, railways also plans to attract private sector investment by offering such companies to run passenger trains.
The total built up area allowed for commercial development is 54 lakh square ft. No prior environmental clearance is required for these projects as these are railway projects.
These four stations are the first ones to have provision to levy a pre-determined user charge on passengers and visitors as one of the main revenue stream for the concessionaire of the redeveloped stations.
