பெய்த மழை வெள்ளத்தால் செங்கோட்டை–புனலூர் இடையே ரெயில் பாதை சேதமடைந்தது. பின்னர் அந்த பாதை சீரமைக்கப்பட்டு, சமீபத்தில் ரெயில் என்ஜின் மூலம் சோதனை ஓட்டம் நடத்தப்பட்டது. அப்போது காணப்பட்ட குறைபாடுகளையும் சரிசெய்தனர்.
இதையடுத்து நாளை 1–ந்தேதி (சனிக்கிழமை) முதல் இந்த பாதையில் ரெயில் போக்குவரத்து தொடங்க இருக்கிறது. தாம்பரத்தில் இருந்து கொல்லத்துக்கு வாரம் 3 முறை இயக்கப்படும் தாம்பரம் –கொல்லம் சிறப்பு ரெயில் வழக்கம் போல் இருமார்க்கத்திலும் இயக்கப்படும்.

இதுதவிர கடம்பூர் –வாஞ்சி மணியாச்சி ரெயில் நிலையங்களுக்கு இடையே இன்று ஆள் இல்லாத லெவல் கிராசிங்குக்கு மாற்றாக சுரங்க பாதை பணிகள் நடைபெறுகிறது. இதையொட்டி திருச்செந்தூர் –பாலக்காடு பாசஞ்சர் ரெயில் நெல்லை –கோவில்பட்டி இடையே இருமார்க்கத்திலும் ரத்து செய்யப்படுகிறது.
இதே போல் விருதுநகர் –துலுக்கப்பட்டி ரெயில் நிலையங்களுக்கு இடையே ஆள் இல்லாத லெவல் கிராசிங்குக்கு மாற்றாக சுரங்க பாதை பணிகள் நடைபெறுகிறது. இதையொட்டி வருகிற 5–ந்தேதி (புதன்கிழமை) மட்டும் திருச்செந்தூர் –பாலக்காடு பாசஞ்சர் ரெயில் விருதுநகர் –நெல்லை இடையே இருமார்க்கத்திலும் ரத்து செய்யப்படுகிறது. அதே நாளில் கோவை –நாகர்கோவில் பாசஞ்சர் ரெயில் இருமார்க்கத்திலும் மதுரை –சாத்தூர் இடையேயும் ரத்து செய்யப்படுகிறது.
இந்த தகவலை மதுரை ரெயில்வே கோட்ட மக்கள் தொடர்பு அலுவலகம் தெரிவித்து உள்ளது.

A landslide between Kuzhithurai and Eraniel stations has delayed four trains - Guruvayur-Chennai Egmore express, Kanyakumari-Mumbai CSMT express, Dibugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express and Gandhidham-Tirunelveli Humsafar Express, railway sources said.
A few passenger trains have been partially hit and rail traffic on Kollam-Punalur-Sengottai section has been suspended due to adverse weather conditions.
