coaches of 12220 Secunderabad-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Duranto Express derailed at Martur Railway station near Gulbarga at 0215 Hrs on the Solapur Division of Central Railway blocking Up and Dn lines on Wadi-Gulbarga railway section.
As per the Central Railway’s statement, coaches B-7, B-8, B-9, Pantry Car, H-1, A-1, A-2, A-3 and Generator Car got derailed and 46-year-old Jyoti and 28-year-old Lata, who were going from Hyderabad to Pune, lost their lives in the incident.
It further read: “injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital at Gulbarga, Brake Down trains from Solapur, Daund and Wadi have been rushed to the site and senior railway officers have reached the site to oversee the restoration work.”
“Dn main line has been restored for rail traffic.”
Addressing the incident, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu took to his Twitter page to say that he had ordered an inquiry into the incident.
“Saddened by Duranto accident. Ordered enquiry. Immediate medical relief and other assistance rushed. Chair Rail board asked to rush,” he wrote in a series of tweets.
“All injured bring rushed to hospitals and treated by medical team. We give ex-gratia to injured, unfortunate families of dead. monitoring it. All possible assistance is provided to all affected, all being rescued. Very unfortunate for this. Cause investigated to take action,” he added.
Prabhu further wrote: “All 7 injured rushed to civil hospital, treatment on,rail doctors are on job. All arrangements made to take others to destination,special train. All possible help being provided to affected families and passengers. Chairman Rail Board, GM, DRM, all orders to be on rescue job.
The cause of the derailment was not immediately known.
Due to derailment of train no.12220 Secunderabad-Mumbai LTT Duronto Express at Martur Station on Solapur Division of Central Railway, following trains have been cancelled / partially cancelled:
Trains cancelled: Raichur-Bijapur passenger train (Train No. 57134 ) scheduled to leave Raichur at 07.00 hrs on Saturday has been cancelled. South Central Railway also cancelled Train No. 12219 Mumbai LTT – Secunderabad Duronto Express scheduled to leave Mumbai LTT at 23:05 hrs today i.e., on 12.09.2015 is cancelled.
Trains partially cancelled: Falaknuma-Gulbarga passenger train (Train No. 57660) which left Falaknuma on Saturday has been short terminated at Chittapur station and partially cancelled between Chittapur-Gulbarga.

Two passengers were killed and eight others injured as the Duronto AC Express train going from Secunderabad to Mumbai derailed at Martur near Kalburgi in Karnataka. The accident is reported to have occurred around 2 am. Nine coaches of the train had jumped off the tracks.
Even though the cause of the derailment is not known yet, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered an inquiry into the matter. He added that all possible medical help will be extended to those who are injured.
Railways has also announced ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh

Initially, both the lines were blocked due to the derailment but now one line has been made operational. No passenger was stranded.

2 killed, 8 injured in train derailment in Karnataka Kalburgi (Kar), Sep 12, 2015, PTI:
At least two persons were killed and eight others injured when nine coaches of a Mumbai-bound train derailed near Kalburgi in Karnataka early today.

The rescue operations are on and the injured people have been rushed to Solapur Government Hospital in Maharashtra, Singh added.
An inquiry has been ordered by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu into the accident, Chairman Railway Board AK Mittal said.
The inquiry will be conducted by Commissioner Railway Safety (Central circle) to ascertain the exact cause of derailment, he said.
