A few more months’ delay for a project that was first proposed nearly 40 years ago might appear a minor blip, but it lends ambiguity to the state’s intentions and credence to allegations of corruption and alleged commissions. The benefits of a reliable rail system for a city like Bengaluru cannot be overemphasised, especially after rain earlier this week stranded hundreds of passengers bound for the airport. This government has been keen on ensuring its 2022-23 budget proposals are implemented. Can it extend the same determination to this project too?
